Early morning tree silhouettes some with new growth, many bare. Green undergrowth and grasses.

Early morning marking a year since the Green Wattle Creek Fire first appeared as a blip on the Fires Near Me App.

The way things had been going down the east of Australia I had been expecting this.

I had a bad feeling about this one right from the start and my anxiety level went up a notch.

The next twenty-five days were anxious, distracted, and hard to focus on anything but the fires.

Daily I would check the information sites and apps first thing in the morning, last thing at night and multiple times inbetween.

The eastern bush area burnt severely.

A few of the familiar regenerating fuzzy trees can be seen but mostly they are bare and will not recover.

It is predominantly bush-floor-up regeneration here.
